Federal Search Engine Delaying

The Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act is not being pursued in a timely fashion, according to the Washington Post's blog, The Trail. This should be of no surprise to anyone who is familiar with the Federal Government and its spending, credibility and accountability. The law states that the individual Federal agencies must make available all information regarding their funding and to what companies were funded so the information could be gathered where online searches would reveal Federal funding and the companies that were funded.

Presidential candidates were asked to sign a pledge that they would sign an executive order within the first 30 days of their Presidency to mandate all agencies to immediately work on presenting the information but only three candidates signed the pledge: Obama, Brownback and Paul. No reasons were given by the other Presidential candidates for not signing the pledge. The other candidates were reported by the Reason Foundation to have "dodged" questioning.

What will be interesting is to see what type search engine is used. The searches that are speculated to be in the top are for the agencies, FEMA, the Defense Department and Department of Transportation.
